Olde Friends 04:49
An evil wind Blew from the west We all knew This was a test Rachel cried out “They’ve taken the Jester” We mounted up Hell bent for leather Just like… Olde friends That don’t mind the weather Olde friends That bring you shelter Olde friends That bring you home again Olde friends Olde friends…. Hearts were breaking And prisoners were taken Love was given Sincerity shaken Knives were thrown The lies were blatant Everywhere I looked The enemy was waiting But I’ve got…. Olde friends That don’t mind the weather Olde friends That bring me shelter Olde friends That take me home again Olde friends Olde friends…. Saint Jane came The weather was lovely All the sinners Who prayed for her mercy The angels of love Where all our mothers And in the end All we had was each other We are… Olde friends That don’t mind the weather Olde friends That bring you shelter Olde friends That bring you home again Olde friends Olde friends….

I passed the park where we used to be One and the same, you and me The play has closed, the stage is empty All that remains are memories And ain’t it a long way home? Ain’t it a long way home? From the east side to the moon? (background vox!) Ain’t it a long way home? The sun would wait for you to shine In the rain, the birds would fly The moon, the stars, the midnight sky I know all those things when you were mine And ain’t it a long way home? Ain’t it a long way home? From the east side to the moon? Ain’t it a long way home? And ain’t it a long way home? Ain’t it a long way home? From the east side to the moon? Ain’t it a long way home? The hours of the day went by too fast The wizard’s potion did not last I railed against my ruthless past You always knew I was made of glass And ain’t it a long way home? Ain’t it a long way home? From the east side to the moon? Ain’t it a loooooong way….hooooooome?

He paced the floor and cursed them. For his world out of control. He blessed the creaky dumbwaiters that served him as he grew older. All that remains of him now are mysteries and into the Renaissance he sailed. All about him the Condors flew and the ancient carousel wailed. Against the wind and before the mast the Ancient Sailor traveled He had gone to far to turn back now on this highway of what He had become Send a message to ones he loved “light a candle Bob, Casey, beat your drums. When He was much younger than He is now He stormed the castle walls Fifty years later they are still standing He keeps screaming but they don’t fall Too many bad times remember Him what He did he did alone He said “Dear Margaret my only true love please wait for until I come home” Some men are finished before they have begun, some never begin at all. Some will write the battle songs, some will just sing along Who knows all the answers this riddle of living of who will pass, who will fail? Some never try to solve them, some of them hide behind their veils. He said,”why bother for the evil and the wicked will prevail.” Harry Chapin once said,” when one of us falls, why all have failed. There is food enough to feed this hungry world if some of us lift the veil.” lifts the veil” And when Harry died, this ancient sailor that he had become began to wail. And He still wails, He still wails He still wails……….

Mary Alice, Mary Emily and Bob and I Would get in the big blue Buick and down the bayou we would ride Oh, this blue sky was free and wide And in the wild blue yonder we would fly Oh, we would fly Say hello Mary Alice, Mary Emily, would you say hello to Bob? We’d fly so high in the friendly skies with Bob If ever romance was in the air It was in the hardwood gymnasium floor in 1958 Bob would dance the night away While Buddy Holly played Fade Away Dance Mary Alice, please, please dance the night away……away Mary Emily and Mary Alice moved to Hollywood Where they were movie stars like they always dreamed they would be And Bob still flew the skies over Omaha with his pal Warren Buffett And then he got big, and bored, and split the set….yeah, old Bob split I search the skies for Mary Alice and Mary Emily And look for Bob in every cloud that rolls by dreamily I can hear his motor churning through the blue Flying high with Buffett for me and you. (Hey hey!) So Mary Alice told Mary Emily to blow the candles out And turn the lights out on the runway Bob found the hole in the sky just yesterday And he became the pilot for an angel he met on his way Fly so high, sky pilot Bob Fly fly fly fly fly…fly away……

about

The “Children of our Hearts”
Have made their way safely to different parts.
Journeys taken with little or no fear.
They found their safety in their searching friends.
There were Dragons that they slayed.
Strength from the love they would take
From their friends of their own hearts.
Grown and on their own road to their destiny.
Casey, Bastian and I discovered that kindness
In one another as we fight the COVID Dragon.
We applied the idea of the” Coffeehouse Children.”
Strength with love made us able to slay the pandemic Dragon.
In much the same way: music, art, poetry, drama gave us our wings
To come together in this album of our love for one another.
We hope you enjoy this offering from a trio of people who love you.
